Mission

The goal of Haas Hall Robotics’ outreach program is to provide a variety of opportunities for children in grades K-6 to engage in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities in meaningful ways that encourage problem-solving, innovative thinking, and collaboration.

We believe that everyone deserves to have the opportunity to be involved with STEM. However, we know that some are groups are underserved and may not have access to activities and programming that teach foundational concepts while also building curiosity, interest, and confidence in STEM. That’s why our outreach program is centered around bringing fun, engaging, high-quality STEM activities and programming to children in grades K-6 in our community.

We want to ensure that we are serving a diverse population, from a broad range of backgrounds, including those that are often underserved, and that we leave children inspired and feeling confident that they have what it takes to excel in STEM.

How Do We Accomplish Our Goal?

Quality First

For the 2023-2024 season, Haas Hall Robotics partnered with the University of Arkansas Center for Mathematics and Science Education to ensure that our outreach lesson plans and exploration activities teach and inspire.

Haas Hall Robotics served the community in the following ways:

  1. STEM Workshops: Our 45-90 minute STEM workshops provide instruction and hands-on activities to small groups (typically 4-15 students). Club members introduce concepts and guide participants as they explore and learn.
  2. STEM & Maker Fairs: Haas Hall Robotics Club loves to serve at these high-volume events at local schools and community spaces! We will bring a robot (sometimes several, depending on the time of year) that attendees can control. We will also set up a table with a fun exploration activity that showcases STEM in action or invites attendees to test concepts or participate in the engineering process.

Serving a Diverse Population through Community Partnerships

In the 2023-2024 season, we presented workshops for children’s groups within a variety of community organizations, particularly those that are providing enrichment and support to families in need.

Our teams presented workshops at Fayetteville Public Library, LifeSource Kids Life After School Program, and to scouts in Girl Scout Troop 5327.

We also attended Maker Faire NWA at the Fayetteville Public Library in October 2023 as well as Holcomb Elementary’s STEAM Night.
